Finding Humour in all of This

Move out of your house for two weeks!  That is what my lung specialist has told us to do.  Process of elimination to find what new mold spore I can possibly be inhaling.  We are almost 100% sure that it is not in our house, as it is bone dry.  The fall has been so mild and wet, that of course is my own theory in all of this.   The leaves drop off the trees and collect in layers on the ground, fermenting like a good wine.  It is just not cold enough to kill off the spores that do collect like little black specs on the leaves, grass, tree trunks and yes even the sidewalks we walk on.  So we have done what the good doctor has said and moved down to the Best Western.  Ray goes home every morning for a couple of hours but I cannot return.  I brought a few changes of clothes and will rely on Ray to choose and bring me things as I need them.  That could prove to be very interesting for sure!!!  To entertain myself I have brought some books, iPad and the Laptop.  I think this experience could be "blog" worthy, even just to document how I am feeling.  But mostly I am writing this as I need to find some humour in this Unexpected Adventure, so that I can have something to laugh at!

Let me describe our room.  We couldn't get into a suite as they were all booked up, but the hotel does have rooms with small bar fridges, microwave and a small sink.  We had to bring down our own dishes and a hot plate in the event that we might want to actually cook something.  We have a love seat, which is comfortable but built for someone a bit shorter than myself.  I feel like my legs are sticking out across the room when I sit on it.  We also have a table for two and some nice comfortable chairs to sit in.  All in all, it is clean and comfortable and we will make the best of it.  For the price we are paying we could have gone to Mexico for a two week all inclusive vacation, or even to Las Vegas!  Unfortunately with my health issue right now we cannot cross the border!  The hotel has a nice pool and a gym.  If I wasn't feeling so crappy I might consider using the treadmill in the gym.  There is even a continental breakfast bar which offers breakfast sandwiches, waffles, the usual array of pastries, fruit, yogurt and cereals.  Doubt we will visit there much. We also have free wifi and the strength is excellent so that is a positive!!!

First night here, we had Vonnie and Russ over for some drinks.  Feels like a holiday so lets make it like one!! Had a great visit.

In our room as in all hotel rooms, there is a small coffee pot with the coffee/filter all in one.  We brought our own coffee and some filters from home.  So this morning I thought I would make a pot of coffee.  I put our filter in and added the appropriate amount of coffee.  The filter was just a hair higher but I thought it would be okay.  Between checking emails I keep an eye on the flow from my position across the room.  About five minutes into the brewing process I heard a funny gurgling sound and looked over towards the pot.  Well from my viewpoint it looked like coffee grounds were flowing like hot lava from the top of the coffee maker down the pot.  Both of us jumped up to find coffee slowly spreading all over the small counter top and running down the front of the nice white fridge door!  Quickly unplugging the coffee, Ray proreceded to get the maker into the small sink.  I cleaned the coffee off the counter while Ray cleaned the grounds off of the pot.  Unbeknowenst to Ray, the tap water was running all over the back of the counter!!  We were having a small flood!  The tap in the sink is so close to the wall that even trying to wash dishes you need to be careful to make sure that you do not hold a dish to high or you have water everywhere!  Having cleaned up the mess, I turned on the Keurig machine (which I thankfully had brought, but Ray thinks the pods are just too expensive to use every time you want a coffee) and made a nice cup of coffee.  Ray wandered off for home, I sat and enjoyed my cup of coffee and played some Scrabble on the iPad.

Tomorrow, I will use the Keurig.
